The ancient city of Marrakech (also spelled Marrakesh), located in the heart of Morocco, is a feast for the senses. It is as unique as it is beautiful, but it can also be overwhelming. The chaos of the Medina, the sweet aroma of mint and incense wafting through the air, the stunning architecture and the bustling souks can be a lot to take in.

The first stop you’ll make upon arriving in Marrakech is your hotel. There are several options for accommodations in the city, but I recommend staying in a riad inside the Medina (old city). Riads are guesthouses that have been converted from family homes. They are beautiful works of art that provide a peaceful escape from the chaos of the Medina.
