Boulevard Ring Walk II (Self Guided), Moscow

The Boulevard Ring is an idyllic place for a ramble. The pedestrian-friendly route is particularly well trodden during the warm summer months when the natural scenery in and around the ring is at its best. So famous and beloved is this destination that it has been immortalized in art, literature and film.

One of the most charming spots is the pond on the Chistoprudny Boulevard. During the summer, get out on the water on a small boat. Come back in the winter when it is frozen over to strap on your skates and glide across its icy surface. The delightful illuminations above the frozen pond make this part of the ring particularly atmospheric.

Chistoprudny Boulevard also benefits from a number of other eye-catching sights. These are principally the mansions that were built for Moscow nobility. There is also a beautiful Moscow Art Nouveau building, a former apartment house. Along one side of the boulevard is Sovremennik, an impressive looking theater founded in the 1950s.

You will also find several places to stop for a meal and some refreshments. Among them is Nostalgie, a temple of haute cuisine and Avocado, one of Moscow’s few vegetarian restaurants. Numerous benches also line the route.
