Dining options are plentiful, with many eateries serving Cantonese cuisine, but there's also a variety of other Asian cuisines on the menu. Hot favorites that this Chinatown is known for are the dim sum, egg rolls and seafood. While you are in the area, browse the specialty grocery stores and the bazaars, many of which are owned by Chinese Vietnamese.

Go to the Far East Plaza, an ethnic shopping mall with a two-story supermarket that has a vast selection of herbs and teas. Take a walk down Old Chinatown Plaza, and if it’s your first time you may get a sense of déjà vu. That's because it’s been featured in dozens of movie and television productions.

Art lovers are catered for in more than 20 art galleries, principally showcasing non-Chinese modern art, including works from up and coming artists. If you are interested in Chinatown’s history, study of the exhibits of the Chinese American Museum. Part of it is housed in the Garnier building, which was built in 1890 and is the area's most historic Chinese structure.
