Hillcrest Walk (Self Guided), San Diego

Hillcrest is to San Diego what Greenwich Village is to New York and the Castro is to San Francisco. It is a vibrant and diverse neighborhood, rich in color and atmosphere. The pedestrian-friendly neighborhood with its leafy streets has blocks of great restaurants and bars and an eclectic mix of shops. There is lots to see and do by day and by night.

Enjoy many happy hours of exploration. Treat yourself to some new clothes in one of the funky clothing stores, browse new furniture pieces and pick up an absorbing new read from one of the book stores. Dining out is a wonderful experience with lots of international cuisines on offer, including French, Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Afghani and Mexican. Whether you want fusion cuisines, modern takes on traditional classics or just simple, well-cooked and well-presented food, you will find it here.

Hillcrest is the hub of San Diego’s gay community, which adds so much to its character and vitality. But it is more than a “Gayborhood”. Hillcrest is for everyone. The area’s nightlife is also fabulous. After enjoying a wonderful meal, hit the dance floor of one of the clubs or enjoy a late-night drink in a wine bar. There are also gay bars and clubs in the neighborhood.
