Norrmalm Walk, Stockholm

Norrmalm is a city district in Stockholm that attracts visitors to its department stores, shopping malls, museums and other sites of cultural interest. Its most famous destination is Sergels Square, a public square named after the 18th-century sculptor Johan Tobias Sergel. There is a sunken pedestrian plaza here and a huge glass and steel sculpture. Other landmarks in Norrmalm include Saluhallar, Stockholm's first market hall and Regeringsgatan one of the oldest streets in the city. There is also some great shopping here, particularly along the pedestrianized Drottninggatan. Lining this major shopping artery are specialist shops, big name brand stores and about every type of retailer you can imagine. Visit Saint James's Church, dedicated to the patron saint of travelers and an exciting mix of architectural styles. They include Baroque, late Gothic and Renaissance. Then enjoy several happy hours exploring Dunsmuseet - Museum of Movement. Browse collections of paintings, costumes, sculptures, films, objects and photographs related to dance, art and theater all over the world. When you want to chill out in the open air, go to Humlegarden, a large park created in the 16th century that was once a royal garden.
