Waterfront Downtown Walk (Self Guided), Honolulu

Savor moments of sheer bliss and relaxation with a visit to Honolulu's downtown area. This beautiful waterfront district boasts a good selection of cafés and restaurants and a collection of fascinating sights and attractions.

The principal focal point is the Aloha Tower. At a height of 184 feet (56 meters) plus a flag mast of 40 feet (12 meters), this iconic Hawaiian structure was the tallest building in Hawaii when it was constructed in 1926. Cruise ships used to dock here before the advent of frequent air services between Hawaii and mainland United States. Admire the Hawaiian Gothic architecture then get in the elevator to go up to the observation deck on the tenth floor. From here, revel in the wonderful views of the harbor and city.

When you are back down on the ground, visit the Aloha Tower Marketplace for its many stores and restaurants. Browse the shops then enjoy a delightful lunch with views of the ocean. Come back here at night for some live music. Nearby is the Falls of Clyde, which is docked in Honolulu Harbor. This is the last remaining four-masted, fully rigged sailing ship in the world. The vessel first went to sea in 1878. Honolulu’s downtown waterfront area is a wonderful introduction to the city and its laidback vibe.
