1) Ibiza

One of the premier places to see and be seen in Albuquerque, Ibiza can be found in the downtown area of the city utilizing an outdoor patio and rooftop of the upscale Hotel Andaluz. Ibiza serves up some of the finest-crafted cocktails found anywhere, including such original creations as the Sandia Fresca made with watermelon and lime or a cucumber-jalapeno margarita. Ibiza also includes a menu of delicious Spanish-inspired dishes. At sunset guests are treated to a beautiful and serene setting in the high end rooftop lounge, which hosts DJ sets later in the evening. Arriving early is recommended for ensuring a space for the late night festivities.

2) Library Bar and Grill

The Library Bar and Grill claims to be one of the best late night bars in Albuquerque. It was founded by Julian Wright. The bar features a great menu with a wide variety of food and drinks. One of the highlights of this place are the waitresses dressed in school girl outfits.

3) Downtown Distillery

A no-frills bar located on Central Avenue in downtown Albuquerque, the Downtown Distillery invites guests to come as they are for a night of reasonably-priced drinks, free pool, and more than one’s fair share of libations from the mixed crowd which includes college students, hipsters, and cheeky locals. Thursday evenings feature a great $2.75 drink special for any beer or well, and $2.00 PBRs are always available as well. The Downtown Distillery is also one of the few hangouts in the city equipped with a ping pong table. For cheap drinks, a great selection of rock and pop music from the 80s, 90s, and today, and a lively up-for-anything crowd where guests have been known to bust out fresh break dancing moves at a moment’s notice, the Downtown Distillery is the best choice in town.

4) Anodyne

A hip hangout with a friendly vibe, Anodyne features one of the largest selections of beers found in any bar. Guests here can enjoy a game of pool or snooker, check out the collection of classic pinball machines in the rear of the space, and choose songs from its outstanding jukebox to accompany the good times. Anodyne offers an astonishing range of over 120 different beers from around the world, including a good selection of local brews as well. Its highly-skilled bar staff is willing and able to assist guests when it comes to choosing a beer, or of any one of its long list of fine bourbons as well. Anodyne offers specials on beers throughout the week, as well as Happy Hour with discounted pool prices.

The main draw in Albuquerque’s gay nightlife scene, Effex is located near another gay-friendly establishment, the Blackbird Buvette. This spacious club includes a ground level dance floor with bars and a DJ booth. Effex is equipped with a high-end sound system delivers unbelievable sound, which is enhanced by the dazzling light display and go go dancers strutting their stuff on raised platforms. Upstairs, the rooftop is a great place to relax from dancing and gaze at the stars and mingle with the friendly crowd. The rooftop space also includes its own DJ, and smaller dance floor.

Launchpad Nightclub & Restaurant, located downtown, was opened in 1997. It claims to be one of the most famous live music venues in the city.
