Casa de Gobierno

3) Casa de Gobierno

Casa de Gobierno (State House of the Province of Mendoza) is an impressive 9-storey building in the Barrio Civico. It features four rationalist style square columns, as well as high and straight doors, and an imposing staircase, creating a rather ceremonial and official impression. The building was inaugurated in 1951 and declared Cultural Patrimony of the province in 1995. The main attraction of the Casa de Gobierno is the antique flag, embroidered by the nuns of the Mary Society in 1816 for the Army of the Andes during the liberation campaigns conducted by San Martin. This flag represents a very important part of Argentina's history.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 12.15 pm and from 4.15 pm to 6.30 pm.

Palacio de Justicia (the Palace of Justice) is the judiciary institution of the province of Mendoza. It is located in the Civic District, together with other prominent governmental buildings. The Palace of Justice is famous for its imposing facade with 14 round columns, that cover almost the entire back side of the construction. This building was designed by Eduardo Blanco in 1940 and inaugurated in 1960.

Terraza Mirador is the rooftop terrace of Mendoza City Hall in Barrio Civico (Civic District). This place is very popular among tourists, because it offers an unforgettable panoramic view of Mendoza and surrounding areas. This terrace is open to the public every day except Sundays. It also features a specially designed garden with various local shrubs and flowers. The City Hall building was inaugurated in 1969 and since then, Mendoza's citizens and tourists come here to admire the landscapes. Special binoculars are fixed on the terrace to allow visitors up to 50-kilometer of visibility on a sunny day.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2.30 pm; Saturdays and holidays from 10 am to 1 pm.

Museo Argentino de Motos Antiguas "Luis Paludet" is an absolutely unique place, here you will find a collection of rare, antique motorbikes dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. The museum exhibits such rarities as the Peugeot (1904), Belgian four-cylinder FN (1907), two-cylinder British Triumph (1907), Harley Davidson (1927) and many other inimitable samples. The museum was established in August, 1981. It aims to show the development of the motorcycle industry from different countries, as well as trace the evolution of the most renown brands.
