Fredriksberg Fortress

2) Fredriksberg Fortress

The Fredriksberg Fortress is a 17th century fortress in Bergen. It was strategically built on one of the highest points in the city. Throughout centuries the fortress has served as a place for executions, a fire station and a shelter for those whose houses had burnt down in the many fires that struck Bergen in the past.

3) Vågen (must see)

Vågen is a bay to be found in the center of Bergen. From its shore the bay spans an impressive view with sailing ships and flying seagulls. Also from here you can have a great view over the old Hanseatic commercial buildings of Bryggen. The bay is particularly beautiful at sunset.

4) Fløibanen (must see)

Fløibanen is a funicular in Bergen which runs up the mountain of Fløyen. It is one of the city's major tourist attractions and one of Norway's most visited sights. Over 1 million passengers per annum have used it in recent years. Fløibanen was officially launched on 15 January 1918. Two cars, each holding approximately 80 passengers, operate between the centre of Bergen and Fløyen on a regular basis. The whole trip takes about 7 minutes, if calling at all stops, or 3 minutes 20 seconds non-stop. The funicular is fully wheelchair-accessible at the bottom and the top stations only.
