The Mattye Reed African Heritage Center features one of the largest collections of African art and artifacts in the United States. Founded in the 1960s, its collection includes cultural items from over thirty African nations, including sculptures, masks, figurines, textiles and musical instruments. Besides its permanent collection, temporary exhibitions and special events can be found here as well. It is located in the Dudley Building of A&T State University and is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
