1) Greensboro Cultural Center

The Greensboro Cultural Center is the largest venue of its kind in the city, housing art galleries, studios, rehearsal rooms, dance halls and theater stages. It also features the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and Music Center. This modern building has four floors, the adjacent Festival Park and other large areas for hosting events. It also boasts a beautiful sculpture garden and amphitheater.

Carolina Theatre

2) Carolina Theatre

Carolina Theatre, built in 1927, was famous for its grand vaudeville performances and silent movies accompanied by organ. Holding a capacity of 2,200, in the 1980s the building was damaged by fire and rebuilt without the balcony. Today it seats 1,100 and its repertoire includes classic and art films, concerts by famous artists, and local theater and dance performances. It is visited by about 100,000 spectators annually.

Elsewhere Collaborative houses a museum, supervises several cultural programs, and organizes educational and cultural events. Its museum exhibits antiques and art objects collected from 1939 to 1997, including sculpture, painting, graphic art and multimedia designs. It is open Friday 4 – 9 pm; Saturday 11 am – 9 pm and Sunday 12 – 5 pm.

Artmongerz Gallery

4) Artmongerz Gallery

Artmongerz Gallery is easy to find due to its bright colorful sign. Opened in 2005, it displays the work of ten local artists, including bold and colorful figurative and abstract painting, found art sculpture, portraits and more. Artmongerz Gallery is open Thursday through Saturday from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Sunday 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

5) Weatherspoon Art Museum (must see)

Weatherspoon Art Museum, founded in 1941 at the University of North Carolina, possesses a grand collection of contemporary American art. Featuring nearly 6,000 works, including post-war paintings, sculpture, photography and graphic art, it also houses beautiful prints and bronze works by Henri Matisse. Besides its stunning permanent collection you can see temporary exhibitions here. It also has a sculpture garden worth seeing. Welcoming about 30,000 visitors annually.
