Sedile di Porta

1) Sedile di Porta (must see)

Sedile di Porta is a historic building located in the Piazza Tasso. It was built near the main gate of the city, when the area that is now Piazza Tasso was called Largo del Castello. Because the building was located close to the gate, it received the name di Porta. Over the years, it has served as a prison and guard house, and today the Sedile is home to the Sorrento Club.
Palazzo Veniero

2) Palazzo Veniero

Palazzo Veniero is of great historic and cultural importance to Sorrento, because its architecture represents the Byzantine and Arab style of earlier years. This unique building has three main arched windows painted with decorative motifs in gray and yellow tufa.
Palazzo Correale

3) Palazzo Correale (must see)

The Correale Palace is a unique historic sight, dating to the 14th century. The facade of the building has small arched windows decorated with different shapes and designs. One of the most beautiful windows is in the Gothic style. The arched portal is Neapolitan, designed with Durazzo - Catalan ornaments that include architectural influences from the time when the palace was built.
Casa Quattrocentesca

4) Casa Quattrocentesca

Casa Quattrocentesca is a rare 15th-century building and is a good example of the architecture of that period. This small palace is the only evidence that Sorrento architecture was influenced by the Tuscan masters, who lived in Naples in the second half of the 15th century.
The Cathedral’s Bell Tower

5) The Cathedral’s Bell Tower

The Bell Tower has great historic importance, because its small arched rooms and the vault on Via Peta, at the entrance of the Bishop's Palace, served as a place for the people of Sorrento to meet. The columns and shapes at the base of the tower have Romanesque-Era influences. The upper part of the tower was probably rebuilt to its current size in the 15th century.
Sedile Dominova

6) Sedile Dominova (must see)

Sedile Dominova is the only evidence in Campania of the old nobles known as Sedili. The building dates back to the 16th century. It has a square shape with two arches that provide a view of the interior walls decorated with interesting frescoes.
