Adriaan de Smaakmaker is a specialty shop where you can buy homemade mustards, jams, chutneys, vinegars, dressings and mayonnaise, all of which are made locally from natural products. You can even see how things are prepared right in the shop, and you can taste every jam, chutney and dressing you want. Products from Adriaan de Smaakmaker make great gifts, especially when arranged in a nice basket, crate or festive package. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and till 5 p.m. on Saturday.

2) Bisschopsmolen (must see)

Bisschopsmolen translates to Bisschops Mill. The building dates back to the 7th century, although it was extensively renovated in 2004. There is a bakery in the watermill, which produces delicious baked goods made from local products. They work from only traditional recipes and no chemical additives are used. There is usually a long line to buy Bisschopsmolen’s tasty bread and cakes. At Bisschopsmolen you can also learn about the art of baking and how the watermill functions. The mill and the bakery are open from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday.

3) Pinky

Want to buy the best waffles in Maastricht? Then Pinky is the place! Pinky is more that 20 years old and has earned a reputation as a fine candy maker. Its assortment of treats is sure to impress, as the store offers more than 400 varieties of candies. You can also buy cold drinks, ice-cream and original fresh Liège waffles here. The interior of the shop is pink, pink and more pink. Pinky’s motto is “Shopping with us is a party!”

4) Boulanger

Boulanger makes some of the most delicious chocolate in the city. It is located not far from the Market on one of Maastricht's busiest shopping streets. It has produced and sold chocolates for more then 30 years using traditional recipes and methods. Here you will find all kinds of chocolates, as well as gifts for any occasion. The friendly staff is always ready to help you. Boulanger is open Mon: 1 pm- 6 pm; Tue: 10 am- 6 pm; Wed, Fri: 9 am- 6 pm; Thu: 10 am - 7 pm; Sat: 9 am - 5 pm and Sun: 12 pm- 5 pm.

Bread & Delicious is located in the Wyck district of Maastricht. It is a traditional patisserie with an old-fashioned atmosphere. It offers fresh sourdough, white and brown bread, as well as delicious pies, chocolate cakes, apple tarts, pastries, baguettes and croissants. You can also buy cheeses, meats and jams made in Maastricht and the surrounding areas.
