La Quintessence is an herbal shop or herbosterie. It was opened in the beginning of the seventies by Suzanne Robert, a talented chemist awarded with a diploma by the faculty of a chemist's shop in Paris. Strapping Geneviève took over the shop's administration in 1979 and nowadays its owners are chemist Jean Rey and his daughter Géraldine Rey. The selection of products offered by La Quintessence includes medicinal plants, essential oils, dietary and beauty products and teas.

2) Aux Grands Vins de France

Aux Grand Vins du France is one of the three linked wine shops in Montpellier. It specializes in selling wine and other alcoholic drinks produced mostly in the south of France, as well as in other regions. The shop provides a selection of approximately one thousand drinks, which include wines, cognacs, champagnes, liqueurs and others. The most popular sorts offered here are Bordeaux, Burgundy, Languedoc, Roussillon and other wines specific to the local climate and prepared using unique techniques.

Emprin Poivre et Sel (or "Salt and Pepper") is one of the most ancient stores of Montpellier. It was established in 1896. The store is divided into several areas and embraces a very broad range of products, starting with the most classical and ending with the most contemporary ones. The "Salt-and-Pepper" space specializes mostly in culinary and kitchen articles and in cutlery. Emprin also provides such products as decoration units, specific presents, bathroom accessories and articles linked to wine, such as corkscrews and decanters.

La Cloche à fromage is the biggest shop specializing in the sale of cheese in Montpellier.
