IMAG History & Science Center

1) IMAG History & Science Center (must see)

The IMAG History & Science Center, formerly known as the Imaginarium Science Center, is an interactive museum and aquarium. This is a great spot to stop on a visit to Ft. Myers for tourists of any age.

IMAG offers many different exhibits that engage visitors while teaching them about nature and history. Tourists can use augmented reality to see history Ft. Myers and learn what the area looked like when early settlers stopped in the region. Tourists can also go below the sea using AR to take a virtual dive to see the sunken USS Mohawk.

Visitors to the IMAG can interact with sea life if they wish. A stingray feeding tank lets guests feed the rays from the palm of their hands. A touch tank lets guests have the unique opportunity to pet a horseshoe crab, sea star or an urchin.

There are many other exhibits at IMAG that awaken the imagination in all who visit. The science center offers lessons and experiments in nature, weather, boating and the importance of clean water.

The science center is open from 10 AM to 5 PM Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 PM each Sunday. It is closed on Mondays.

Daas Gallery

2) Daas Gallery

Daas Gallery, known formerly as the David Acevedo Art Studio, is a contemporary and non-traditional art gallery located in the downtown area of Fort Myers. It is the project of David Acevedo and Xavier Brignoni, who promote and exhibit the creations of young and talented modern artists from the area. The exhibitions feature sculptures, paintings and other sorts of visual art, the only requirement being for them to be as unusual as possible. The gift shop offers a large choice of souvenirs, jewelry and even T-shirts with the gallery's logo. Visitors are welcome Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Arts For ACT

3) Arts For ACT

Arts For ACT is an art gallery opened and maintained by the Abuse Counseling and Treatment Incorporation (ACT). It's housed in a splendid building with numerous rooms and halls, each of them holding different exhibits of talented photographers, painters and sculptors. The styles of the visual art in the gallery are highly diverse, starting with abstract art and ending in expressionism. The total number of the artists who have their creations shown in the gallery is approximately seventy five. A boutique and gift shop is available. Visitors are welcome daily from 11 am to 5 pm.

Space 39

4) Space 39

Space 39 is a modern and contemporary art gallery located in the historic downtown area. The gallery features creations by talented local painters, photographers and sculptors. The interior walls of the gallery are in bare brick, and the artwork looks very unusual in such a context. Even though the space is not big, the exhibitions are still impressive and important. Most of the exhibits are accompanied by live music performances.

5) Art League of Fort Myers

The Art League of Fort Myers was opened in 1956 and since then it has maintained its reputation as one of the most important art studios and galleries in the city. It often hosts exhibits of visual art to promote and support artists from the region. Beside painting and photography exhibitions, the Art League organizes diverse workshops and other similar events. The gallery also has a gift shop, where visitors can choose and buy creations by the featured artists.
