Located inside a building formerly serving as a children’s hospital during World War Two, Doboz, Hungarian for “box,” Downstairs is where guests will find the live music venue, and grill and bar. Upstairs features offices, workshops, and gallery spaces. The interior design utilizes many of the remaining elements of its former incarnation, including doors, tiles, and brickwork. Contemporary sculpture, including a huge King Kong on wrapped around a live sycamore tree, and modern design elements add a unique dichotomy in the bar’s overall look, creating a chic and sophisticated atmosphere that guests will absolutely love.

Arguably Budapest’s hottest gay nightclub, CoXx sports an opaque, industrial design with metal elements and brickwork adding to the steamy atmosphere. Located in a splendid building with Spanish style architecture, Szoda Udvar includes a beautiful courtyard with marble tiles and a fountain in its three-story atrium. The entrance to this club is through an unassuming door on a quiet urban road near the chain bridge and Four Seasons Hotel. The courtyard features chairs and sofas for private lounging in a relaxed and subdued setting. Entertainment includes live DJs spinning some of the best underground beats Thursday through Saturday in the downstairs dance floor area. The upstairs lounge, designed with manga art on the walls, features drinks at reasonable prices, and also includes a food menu, offering sandwiches and an assortment of snack items.

4) Mika Tivadar Mulato

Taken from the name of the former iron- and copperware factory owner that formerly utilized this building, Mika Tivadar Mulató is one of the hottest nightclubs in Budapest’s 7th district. This bar attracts a hip, artsy crowd of twenty-somethings and up. Downstairs is the concert hall and dance floor where an assortment of DJs and VJs offer up entertainment, as well as live bands playing anything from jazz to reggae and more. Upstairs guests can enjoy a more intimate lounge experience, and an outdoor garden area provides a full bar, food, and games. A notable cultural spot in the city, Mika Tivadar Mulató also hosts film screenings, festivals, and theater performances throughout the year as well.

A great outdoor venue for live music, Akvárium serves a quaint café during daytime hours, serving breakfast on its lovely terrace with a beautiful view of Erzsébet Square in the very heart of Budapest. Evenings host live musical performances by some of the best up-and-coming local talent, as well as by national touring bands with enough room to accommodate 700 guests. The indoor lounge offers live DJ sets Wednesday through Sunday in an intimate setting holding a capacity of 200 guests.
