Galería Texu exhibits works of contemporary artists. It specializes in alternative art styles and is famous for promoting very brave and unconventional visions of beauty. Visitors have a chance to enjoy a variety of installations, photo exhibitions, sculptures, as well as paintings, applique works and videos.

2) Archaeological Museum of Asturias (must see)

The Archaeological Museum of Asturias (Spanish: Museo Arqueológico de Asturias) is housed in the 16th century Benedictine monastery of Saint Vicente in Oviedo. Its findings include collections of Asturian Neolithic, Megalithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Astur hill fort culture, Roman period, and of Gothic, Pre-Romanesque and Romanesque periods of the Asturias Kingdom. The museum also includes sections of Asturian Ethnography, Heraldry, Medieval and Modern Epigraphy, Spanish Numismatics, European Medal Section, and Armor. The facilities are slated to be enlarged soon by the construction of an annex. The museum falls under the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture but is managed by the Council of Culture of the Government of the Principality of Asturias.

3) Museo de la Iglesia

Museo de la Iglesia (Church Museum) is located in the upper cloister of Oviedo Cathedral. It was established in March, 1985. The museum features seven rooms with a special exposition in each of them. The most precious and famous part of the exhibition is the Camara Santa (Holy chamber of Oviedo). It was built during the 9th century to house the jewels and relics of the cathedral of San Salvador in Oviedo, it continued to serve as a treasury during 1200 years of its existence. Some of these jewels were donated by the Kings Alfonso II and Alfonso III, and represent extraordinary gold artifacts from the Asturian Pre-Romanesque period. The Holy Chamber remains the only sample of the ancient high-medieval architecture in Spain.

4) Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias (must see)

The Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias (Spanish: Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias) is situated within three buildings: the Palacio de Velarde, the House of Oviedo-Portal, and the House of Solís-Carbajal. The museum was conceived in 13 June 1844 by Royal Decree and inaugurated 19 May 1980 formed by the art collection owned by the former province of Oviedo. Presently the museum depends on the Culture Department of Asturias and the City of Oviedo funding. The fine arts collection includes up to 10,000 inventoried items, with 350–400 on public display at one time. There are paintings by Spanish artists, highlighting those from Asturias, as well as those from foreign countries, such as Italian and Flemish painters. Sculptures, photographs, glass objects, and earthenware are also part of the permanent collection.

5) Galeria Vertice

Galeria Vertice is located near the San Francisco Park, on the Calle Marqués de Santa Cruz. It was founded in 1990 to support and promote national and international artists. The gallery features three exhibition areas and a garden to display various art installations and statues. In total, Galeria Vertice offers 950 square meters of exhibition space. The expositions are mainly concentrated on the works of modern artists with a contemporary vision of art. The Vertice Gallery has taken part at international fairs since 1993, among them Art Chicago, Art International New York, Madridfoto, Artelisboa and many others.

Tabularium Artis Asturiensis is a private museum, established in 1947 by Official Chronicler of Asturias, D. Joaquín Rodríguez Manzanares for the study of Art and Archeology in Asturias. Tabularium Artis Asturiensis is translated from Latin as "Asturian Art Archive". The archive is one of the most important private museums in Spain. It successfully helps discover and preserve the most significant parts of the region's history. The Museum houses a 500 pieces collection, spanning the period from the Paleolithic to the Asturian Baroque and 70,000 documents gathered by its founder. The main collection such items as the prerrománica tombstone found on the slopes of Monsacro in 1800; paten and jug found in Llindes Visigoths, Quirós; pieces belonging to the environment "Protected Landscape Cape rocks"; 16th century carving of the Virgin; wooden head of Christ rescued from the rubble of a building in the vicinity of the Cathedral and many other priceless items.

This private museum is open from 8.30 am to 10.30 am.
