St. John-St Paul Lutheran Church

1) St. John-St Paul Lutheran Church

St. John, also known as St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, is a Christian community, which comes together to worship and glorify Jesus Christ. The church's purpose is to grow in size, teach their beliefs to people and spread the principles of faith, love and hope. Those who are interested in Sunday services can visit the church at 8:15, 10:00 and 11:30 am.

St. Bernard Catholic Church

2) St. Bernard Catholic Church

The original church was built in 1861, on the current site of the National Inventor's Hall of Fame S.T.E.M. school. The current church building was begun in 1902, and opened in 1905. St. Bernard Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. This wonderful building was designed in German-Romanesque architectural style with a Baroque influence. It is characterized by monochromatic stone, many arches and twin bell towers, thus resembling imposing European cathedrals. The church's interior is also noteworthy for its marble altar, wall decorations and pictures.

Trinity Lutheran Church

3) Trinity Lutheran Church

The Trinity Lutheran Church is a historical religious venue, whose congregation was formed in 1868 and who has since been spreading the confession of faith in Jesus Christ. The church is housed in a splendid building of an eclectic Late Gothic Revival architectural style, established in 1912-1914, which replaced the former Victorian Gothic Church, built in 1872. One can visit the church Sundays at 8:30 am and 11 am for worship services.

First Congregational Church

4) First Congregational Church

The historical roots of the First Congregational Church were set in 1833. The congregation worshiped in different buildings until it settled in the impressive church of the Richardsonian Romanesque style, established in 1910 and restored in 2005. It has an important architectural value and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Another amazing feature of the church is its organ with more than 4000 pipes, dating from 1951 and recently refurbished.

First United Methodist Church

5) First United Methodist Church

The First United Methodist Church was established in 1830, and began spreading the faith in God among scholars during Sunday School classes. The two previous churches were destroyed by fire and by electrical short-circuiting respectively. The congregation decided to re-affirm itself as a downtown congregation and to build their residence in the same place. The new erected church features a combination of contemporary and traditional architecture.

6) First Presbyterian Church

The First Presbyterian Church can boast a rich historical and religious heritage. It was established in 1831 as First Presbyterian Church of Middlebury in Portage Township. The problem of slavery, which arose in the society in 1843, divided the church in two but in a short time the two parts reunited and in 1874, the church changed its name to First Presbyterian Church of Akron. The building which houses the present church was erected in 1904.

The Bethany Lutheran Church was established more than 120 years ago and is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It spreads the love of God through worship, which take place every Sunday at 10 am, and Sunday school classes. The church is also involved in many social activities and charities.
