Capilla Nuestra Señora De Lourdes

1) Capilla Nuestra Señora De Lourdes

Founded in 1937 on a quarry, the Capilla Nuestra Señora De Lourdes is surrounded by a beautiful area. The church and the grotto are almost an exact replica, though smaller, of the popular French cave, and an imitation of Jerusalem featuring moving characters and lighting which are a great landmark for Mar del Plata. At the top of the cave visitors can see the amazing sanctuary honoring the memory of Nuestra Señora de Lourdes’s Virgin. Designed by architect Luis Cossa, the chapel is visited by thousands of local Christians and tourists every year.

2) Parroquia La Sagrada Familia

Originally built in 1928, the chapel distinguishes through the neo-baroque style. Situated just few blocks from the Lourdes' Grotto, the church features a beautiful bell tower with the bronze sculpture of Christ on the main facade and is a real attraction for the port community. The exterior provides curved façade, beautiful columns and curved ornaments. Inside the church visitors can see the main altar which is a replica of the Holy Family, the bronze sculpture of San Constanzo and French ceramics. Faro Punta Mogotes

Situated south of Punta Cantera, the lighthouse was founded in France by popular architects, but was brought to Mar del Plata piece by piece and assembled in its current location at the beginning of 1890. Officially inaugurated in August 1891, the lighthouse is a conical tower with red and white horizontal lines which is built with iron plates, and on top continues with a cylindrical compartment glass for lighting. In 1934 the municipality established a system which sends a signal every few seconds, so that boats could find the direction of landing at the port of the city or just determine the position of the ship.
