Oceanfront Walk (Self Guided), Virginia Beach

The King Neptune is a very impressive bronze statue which was made in such a way that it seems to rise from the sea. It is located in Neptune Park, a picturesque area where you can see free concerts on summer evenings.

The Beach Gallery exhibits many fine contemporary art works by regional and national artists. These original works, including lithographs and prints, can tell a visitor a lot about the art scene in the region. Some of these great pieces are even available for purchase.

Pacific Avenue it's a popular shopping street with everything from fashionable boutiques and jewelry stores, to beach clothes and accessories, there’s something to please everyone’s taste.

Set on the Oceanfront, the Naval Aviation Monument is dedicated to the aviation of the Navy, the Marine Corps and the Coast Guard. The monument is made up of several beautiful bronze statues created by master sculptor Mike Maiden. There are also a number of other historical monuments here, including a statue of World War II pilot Eugene Ely, who was the first to land successfully on a shipboard.

Located on the Oceanfront boardwalk area of Virginia Beach, the Norwegian Lady Statues are one-half of a memorial dedicated to a marine disaster involving a Norwegian boat. The other part of the memorial is located in Moss, a coastal town in Østfold, Norway. On March 27, 1891, the Norwegian Barque Dictator was lost in the Atlantic Ocean south of the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay off Virginia Beach. The statues commemorate the lives lost in the shipwreck and the life-saving efforts of the community. Today the memorial has become a maritime icon for the people of Virginia Beach.

The Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of lifesaving on along the Atlantic coast.

In 1915, the United States Lifesaving Service became the United States Coast Guard. The station at Seatack (built in 1903 to replace an earlier structure) is now the museum. The area's lifesaving history along the coast line of the Graveyard of the Atlantic is commemorated here. It has artifacts from the shipwreck of the Dictator, displays of period lifesaving equipment, educational programs.

The Seatack Station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Virginia Beach Boardwalk is lined with hotels and restaurants, making it the most popular destination for many vacationers looking to be in the very heart of the city's soul. Many restaurants also line the boardwalk, giving you many breakfast, lunch, and oceanfront dining options. The boardwalk is built overlooking the beautiful Atlantic ocean, and the scenic views from many of the area hotels and restaurant patios are simply breathtaking. In addition to a large walking path, there is also a bike path for people on bikes, trikes and skates. Handicap ramps are placed at every block and lead down to the sandy shores of the Atlantic ocean.

Get ready to be scared by this creepy attraction, which is also known as Nightmare Mansion. From the front you’ll be shocked by the frightening skeleton on the roof. It’s even more scary at night, when the house is illuminated like something from a horror movie.

Along the Oceanfront you will see a beautiful old building called DeWitt Cottage. Built in 1895, it is the oldest beach house in the city. Today it’s home to the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum. Here you can see all kinds of interesting artworks, carvings and other artifacts relating to local wildfowl. Be sure to stop by the museum’s gift shop if you want to pick up an unusual present to take home.

The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier is a very popular fishing spot where anglers of all ages and skill levels congregate to enjoy a fun day on the water. The Pier is located on the Boardwalk in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The summer season is peak time for visiting the pier.
