2) Canto da Ema

Dedicated to forró, a form of music which originated in Northeastern Brazil, Canto da Ema is named after a famous song from the genre. Guests gather here each night to enjoy the traditional music and dancing of the style and also to sip the official cocktail named the xiboquinha, a beverage made with cachaça, lemon, honey, cinnamon, and ginger. Canto da Ema accommodates a maximum capacity of up to 700 guests, and regularly sees performances by notable artists on the forró scene, including Jackson do Pandeiro, Dominguinhos, the Northeastern Trio, Elba Ramalho, and more. Canto da Ema also offers forró dance lessons to those who are interested.

3) Bar Secreto

An exclusive Sao Paulo nightlife establishment where knowing someone or managing to get on the guest list is the only way to gain entrance, Bar Secreto features a posh and sophisticated night of partying with the city’s elite. Entertainment includes anything from rock to electronic music, and a national sound called Música Popular Brasileira, or MPB as it is popularly known as. This upscale nightclub has attracted such big name celebrities such as Madonna, who threw a party here in 2008, as well as U2s Bono who delighted the crowd with his karaoke skills at during after-party held at Bar Secreto following one of their concerts.

A unique party establishment built inside a former residential house built in the 1950s, Casa 92 heats up the Sao Paulo nightlife scene with the hottest house (fitting indeed) music around. Guests can wander through the old living room decked out in glittering disco lights, venture outdoors to the patio or up on the terrace where the bars are located, or get down to the best electronic beats on the dance floor which can be found in the upstairs bedroom. Members of Casa 92, as well as VIP guests, party inside the next door Casa da Familia, which is open to the public on Wednesday Evenings. Entertainment served up by its DJs includes, rock, retro classics from the eighties, and house music.

A popular nightlife establishment for Sao Paulo’s gay community, Bubu Lounge offers a regular bevy of events throughout the week that keeps the place packed each night.
