BJ's Lounge, New Orleans

A great little dive bar tucked away in the lower part of the Bywater district in New Orleans, BJ's Lounge is a great spot to escape the touristy areas of the city and enjoy an affordable and laid-back atmosphere. As you enter, you'll notice the walls adorned with a collection of densely-packed photos surrounding a wooden sign that proudly declares, "BJ's, Your 9th Ward Living Room". These photos give the bar a cozy and familiar vibe, as if you're browsing through a neighborhood photo album on display for all to see. Some of the photos are recent, while others have aged gracefully, but they all contribute to the sense that this is a community bar for the locals.

Further inside, a pool table takes center stage in a small alcove adjacent to the bar, surrounded by mounted deer heads and bowling trophies. A black curtain separates the pool area from a stage at the back of the bar, where more visual delights adorn every wall, often accompanying live music performances. Additionally, you'll find a few video poker machines, a staple of New Orleans dive bars. All these elements come together to create a welcoming and visually rich environment that can be both comforting and mesmerizing, especially for first-time visitors.
