Clarence R. Smith Mineral Museum, Youngstown

Clarence R. Smith, born and raised in Youngstown, started his mineral collection in 1959 when he spent the winter in Tucson, Arizona. In 1962, he opened a mineral shop in his barn and in 1970, after Mr. Smith passed away, the collection was moved to Adamas Jewelry & Gifts in Boardman, Ohio. The collection's new home is the Clarence R. Smith Mineral Museum, located in the Youngstown State University Department of Geology, where it can be enjoyed by all for years to come.
