From prehistory to the modern era, the Korčula Town Museum provides a captivating look into the island's cultural evolution and way of life through the centuries. It is a stunning example of 15th and 16th-century residential architecture. The museum boasts a decorative stone façade adorned with balconies and family crests. As you explore the museum's unique exhibition halls, you'll journey through the cultural and economic history of Korčula, from ancient times to the present.

The museum spans four floors within the 15th-century Gabrielis Palace. Exhibits, presented in both Croatian and English, include artifacts ranging from coats of arms and Greek amphorae to ship models and local household items. The museum's most treasured artifact, the Psephisma of Lumbarda, is a 4th-century BCE stone plaque inscribed in ancient Greek, making it the oldest written document discovered in Croatia.

While exploring the museum, visitors can learn about Korčula’s diverse history through collections covering stonemasonry, shipbuilding, archaeology, art, furniture, textiles, and traditional Korčulan dress. Although its space limitations mean some collections, such as archaeological, ethnological, and photographic items, are not currently on display, the experience still offers a rich and comprehensive insight into Korčula's past.
