K12 Galerie (K12 Gallery), Bregenz

K12 Galerie (K12 Gallery), Bregenz

K12 Galerie was founded in 2003 by artist Werner Marxx Bosch and has developed into a steady platform for contemporary art in the upper town. It has no permanent collection and instead presents changing exhibitions throughout the year. As the base of the K12 Bodensee Artclub, it focuses on painting, photography, sculpture, and experimental media, featuring artists from the Lake Constance region and abroad.

The gallery is housed in a historic building, specifically in the attic or top-floor studio space (Dachatelier). The historic exterior contrasts with the bright “white cube” interior, where simple lighting and white walls keep the focus on the art. The gallery stands near the Seekapelle and a short walk from the Parish Church of St. Gallus, linking contemporary work with a historic setting.

K12 maintains an informal atmosphere and often takes part in events such as the ORF Long Night of Museums. Vernissages, artist talks, and book presentations encourage direct exchange between visitors and creators. It should not be confused with the nearby Kunsthaus Bregenz, designed by Peter Zumthor. While both focus on contemporary art, K12 remains a smaller, private gallery centred on close dialogue and experimental approaches.
