Khan As'ad Pasha Al-Azem, Damascus

Khan As'ad Pasha Al-Azem stands as a significant landmark within the Old City of Damascus, boasting an expansive area of 2,500 square meters. Constructed during the tenure of As'ad Pasha al-Azm, the governor of Damascus, between 1751 and 1752, it remains one of the city's most notable architectural endeavors.

Strategically positioned along the bustling Al-Buzuriyah Souq, the Khan served as a pivotal hub for caravans traversing from various points across the Middle East during the Ottoman era. Notable merchants of the time often leased rooms within its confines, attesting to its commercial importance.

Architecturally, the Khan showcases a blend of influences, featuring eight small domes reminiscent of Persian design and a central opening, alluding to its grandeur.
