Kunstraum Innsbruck (Innsbruck Art Space), Innsbruck

The Innsbruck Art Space (Kunstraum), situated in the heart of Innsbruck, has been a significant force in contemporary art since its establishment in June 1996. It operates as a non-profit organization, aiming to encourage involvement with contemporary art through various activities like exhibitions, lectures, discussions, artist talks, readings, and concerts. Housed in a former paper warehouse from the 1930s, located around 600 meters west of the main train station, the Art Space offers a unique combination of historical architecture and modern artistic expression.

Covering an area of about 300 square meters, the exhibition space is designed to accommodate a diverse range of contemporary artworks including painting, graphics, photography, sculptures made of metal and wood, as well as conceptual art. The exhibitions change five times a year, each lasting around eight weeks, appealing not only to art enthusiasts and association members but also to casual passersby in Innsbruck's bustling city center, encouraging spontaneous encounters with art.

In addition to visual arts, the Innsbruck Art Space also hosts concerts and readings, enriching its cultural offerings. Furthermore, the association airs a monthly program on Innsbruck Freirad Radio, keeping the community updated on current art topics and exhibitions. Through these diverse initiatives, the Art Space plays a crucial role in Innsbruck's cultural landscape, bridging the gap between contemporary art and the wider public.
