Matbakh al-Ajami, Aleppo
Matbakh al-Ajami is a rare masterpiece of Zengid-era architecture. Dating from the 12th Century, it was originally a palace. It boasts a complex dome and a richly-decorated entranceway. Nowadays the building houses a souq, or market, where you can stroll around and browse the wonderful souvenirs of the Orient on sale.
