Peter Pan Statue, Perth

Peter Pan Statue, Perth

The Peter Pan Statue in Perth is a cherished symbol of Western Australia's cultural and communal spirit. Nestled within the serene Queens Gardens in East Perth, this statue is a captivating highlight amid the garden's lush landscapes, water-lily-filled lakes, and the charming ambiance of an urban oasis overlooking Optus Stadium. The gardens themselves, officially opened in 1899 and dedicated to Queen Victoria in honor of her Diamond Jubilee, blend natural beauty with cultural landmarks, including a notable park bench from the movie ‘Notting Hill’ and the enchanting Peter Pan statue.

This Statue of Peter Pan is a replica of Sir George Frampton's renowned work situated in Kensington Gardens, London. It is one of only seven replicas made from the original mould, underscoring its rarity and the meticulous craftsmanship of the late British sculptor George Frampton, whose work has been celebrated for over a century. The Perth statue was presented in 1929 by the Rotary Club of Perth and friends, commemorating the centenary of the State of Western Australia.

The Peter Pan statue was chosen as a centennial gift with deep significance, symbolizing youth, adventure, and imagination for the children of Western Australia. The Rotary Club of Perth, established in 1926, aimed to mark its contribution to the city with a meaningful symbol and selected Sir George Frampton's iconic statue. Erecting the Peter Pan statue in Queens Gardens not only commemorated a significant historical milestone but also added to the area's cultural and aesthetic appeal.
