Catavento Museum, Sao Paulo

The Catavento Museum, situated in São Paulo, is an engaging museum that opened its doors in 2009. Its primary focus is on the exploration and popularization of science. Housed within the Palácio das Indústrias, this interactive museum spans an impressive 12,000 square meters, divided into four distinct sections: "Universe," "Life," "Engenho," and "Society." Visitors can marvel at over 250 installations, each designed to captivate young minds.

The museum's establishment was a collaborative effort between the state departments of culture and education. With an investment of 20 million reais and a construction period of 14 months, the museum officially became a reality, catering to the curiosity and thirst for knowledge of young individuals.

However, the inception of the Catavento Museum can be traced back to 2005 when the São Paulo City Hall initiated discussions surrounding its creation. In that year, they presented Bill 469/2005 to the São Paulo City Council, seeking authorization to establish the Catavento Foundation. This endeavor sought to establish not only a center for children's development but also the management of a Children's Museum.

After a thorough process that spanned a year, the project gained approval and was transformed into Law 14,130 in 2006. Throughout this period, the original text underwent modifications championed by politician Chico Macena. His revisions emphasized the need for the Catavento Foundation to encompass the creation and management of a Children's Museum, extending its scope beyond a mere center for children and adolescents.
