Stewart's Photo Shop, Anchorage

Stewart's Photo Shop, the oldest photo shop in the city, has gathered an impressive archive of slides, movie films and photographs. Its owners Ivan and Oro Stewart are in business since 1943. They opened their shop in the old historical building that used to be a butcher store in the 1920s. The shop owners gladly share pieces of Alaskan history with their customers and display amazing old and rare pictures and slides at their shop. The Stewarts also keep a pet reindeer named Star who participates regularly in local events and festivities taking place in Anchorage. Besides photography, the other great passion of the Stewart family is jade. You can find original jewelry and souvenirs for sale in the shop. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10 am - 6 pm, Sunday 11 am - 5 pm.
