World Center for Birds of Prey, Boise
The World Center for Birds of Prey serves as the global headquarters of The Peregrine Fund, a nonprofit that has been working since 1970 to conserve endangered raptors across the globe. The center played a pivotal role in rescuing the peregrine falcon from extinction, culminating in its removal from the U.S. Endangered Species list in 1999.
Today, the facility continues to lead critical breeding and reintroduction programs for species like the California condor and aplomado falcon, while its research teams study the complex interplay of health, diet, aging, and environmental stressors on raptors.
Visitors to the World Center for Birds of Prey can experience conservation in action. The public areas include interpretive exhibits, live bird presentations, and chances to see majestic raptors-such as eagles, owls, hawks, and condors-up close. The center also houses the Archives of Falconry, a unique collection that documents the history of falconry through artifacts, literature, and personal stories from across the world.
