Downtown Austin Walking Tour
Finding something fun and unique to Austin each month is what helps be gain a deeper appreciation for living here. One of the best ways to see a city is by walking because you get a completely different perspective as you move more slowly and can take in the details that would likely be missed if traveling by bus, car, or even a... view more
Day Trip to Dallas
Thanks to a great Southwest special back in the fall on winter travel, I was able to book flights to and from Dallas for extra cheap! This meant flying in the middle of winter on weekdays, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to fly to Dallas roundtrip cheaper than it would've cost to drive my own vehicle. I'm going to do something I haven't done in a while and return to my classic format for recapping my trip. I want to make sure you know what I did just in case there's anything you would... view more
Day Trip to San Antonio
I grew up taking trips to San Antonio with family, traveling with my high school choir, and amusement park days with friends in college. However, I haven't had a chance to check out everything the city has to offer. I also hadn't taken a trip to San Antonio solo until this day trip. Since I was going alone, I decided to challenge myself to visit at least one new location or activity in addition to revisiting a couple things I've enjoyed in past visits –– only spending $50 for the entire day... view more
Trip to Washington, D.C.
What do you do when you need a vacation and your best friend happens to be going on a work trip to Washington, D.C.? You join them, of course! Well, at least that's what I did. My friend works for a company based in D.C. and they needed her to come to the office for a training, so I decided to tag along because one of my other friends said it seemed like I was in need of a vacation. So that brings me to writing this recap of my trip to Washington,... view more
Day Trip to Denver
A week ago, I hopped on a plane at 5:30am for a day trip to Denver, Colorado. If you've been keeping up with this blog, then you know I'm based on out Austin, Texas and not in Colorado. However, as I mentioned in my recent Washington, D.C. post, I have to take four total flights on Southwest to be A-list preferred for a year via perks through my job's corporate partnership. So, I looked at my schedule and booked a flight for a day trip to the most affordable place that I would have an interest... view more
Austin Tacos Tour
Tacos are a personal and overall Texas favorite food. You can have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner all in the same day and not get tired of them. There is so much variety to tacos from the type of tortilla used to the fillings and, of course, toppings and sauces. In Austin, tacos are a BIG DEAL and you can pretty much find a taco shop around every... view more
Day Trip to Seattle
Well, I certainly didn't expect that my first time visiting Seattle would be a day trip, but that's exactly what happened! At the top of November, Mr. Well-Travelled (my brother) asked me to assist with a book launch event Every Day Is Juneteenth was sponsoring along with University of Washington. I would fly out to Seattle the morning of the event and return to Austin the next day. I didn't want to miss out on this special opportunity and agreed to... view more
Day Trip to New Braunfels
If you've been following my blog over the past year, then you know I love a good day trip. This time around I took a day trip to New Braunfels, Texas for a nice Saturday to relax and try some new things. For this day trip to New Braunfels, I wanted to focus on a combination of checking out locations that would be new to me and revisiting some of my favorite locations in town. I experienced this through both food and activities during my... view more
Road Trip to Oklahoma City
After a lot of attempts to make a trip to Oklahoma City happen, I finally found a time that worked to be able to go and see one of my friends that I've known since the start of high school! I really wanted to make this trip a fun experience and one that was still affordable. I compared some numbers for flights from Austin to OKC and determined that driving would be faster and... view more
Day Trip to Albuquerque
The timing of my trip worked out nicely to experience cultural events in Albuquerque. I took this day trip on Saturday, November 2. Albuquerque had a week-long celebration of El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) wrapping up that weekend and November is Native American Heritage Month with Friday, November 29 being Native American Heritage... view more
