A Sightseeing Guide to Senggigi in Western Lombok, Senggigi, Indonesia
Senggigi is one of those places where you will need to do a good research beforehand in order to properly enjoy.
Once upon a time, Senggigi used to serve as the main tourism hub when Lombok was marketed as the next Bali. Major developments went underway in the 1990s, but most of the crowd had now gravitated towards the famous Gili Trawangan.
Senggigi is now at an awkward position where there are plenty of development that it almost functions like a satellite city to Mataram, yet for most of the times, they feel “deserted” instead of “vibrant”. This is a shame because some of these eateries do have genuinely interesting concepts that are perfect for Instagram, but didn’t feel as appealing without some patrons inside of them! On the other hand, the main Senggigi Beach feels jam-packed with local tourists to a point that they become hard to enjoy.
