Albany Center Gallery, Albany
Albany Center Gallery (ACG) is a nonprofit art space located in downtown Albany, dedicated to showcasing the talent of regional artists within a 100-mile radius of the city. Founded in 1977 by Leslie Urbach, ACG has been a vital platform for contemporary visual artists, exhibiting thousands of works across various disciplines, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, fiber arts, digital art, video, mixed media, and installation.
With a strong commitment to fostering a knowledgeable and engaged audience, the gallery hosts at least seven major exhibitions annually, including the renowned Mohawk Hudson Regional Invitational, which highlights selected artists from the previous year’s Artists of the Mohawk-Hudson Region exhibit. Beyond exhibitions, ACG offers murals, consulting services, art and space rentals, pop-up shows, youth programs, artist talks, and community events, all aimed at enriching the local cultural landscape.
ACG operates with the support of memberships, donations, state and corporate funding, and fundraising initiatives, ensuring that all its exhibitions, receptions, and artist interviews remain free and accessible to the public. By promoting both emerging and established artists, the gallery plays a crucial role in shaping the evolving artistic identity of the Greater Mohawk-Hudson Region, encouraging dialogue and appreciation for visual arts on a local and international level.
