Baluardo San Colombano, Lucca

Baluardo San Colombano, Lucca

The Baluardo San Colombano is one of Lucca’s ramparts. It is also known as the Baluardo della Rosa. It was built between 1600 and 1603. The bastion is represented by a tower that was needed for the defense of the Porta San Pietro. Inside the ancient structure is a restaurant with the same name, occupying almost the entire area. It created a functional space, without affecting the walls, and a sensational refuge for locals. The Baluardo San Colombano is part of the southern urban walls.
