Connaught Place, Delhi

Connaught Place, Delhi (must see)

Connaught Place is a busy commercial hub in Delhi. The area, usually referred to as CP, is home to large firms, shopping complexes, restaurants, attractions and the city's Central Park.

Connaught Place was established in the early 20th century. Architect Robert Tor Russell used a Georgian architectural style as the foundation of the area. His influence was Bath's Royal Crescent. Connaught Place was named after Prince Arthur, the First Duke of Connaught.

Visitors to Connaught Place can walk through the various shops, enjoy the circular architecture or look for India's largest flag, which flies in Central Park. Tourists can stop to watch a movie at the 1920s era theatre, go to Madame Tussauds Delhi Wax Museum or look for the ancient Hanuman temple.

Visitors can walk by Connaught Place at any time. The outer circle is for fast food and restaurants, middle circle for banks and ATMs, and the inner circle for shopping. Those wanting to shop or dine should only plan their visit around the open business hours of 10 AM to 8:30 PM.
