Dom na Kultura (House of Culture), Ohrid

The House of Culture (Dom na Kultura) in Ohrid, designed by renowned Macedonian architect Zivko Poposki and built in 1959, is a cultural landmark. Located near Ohrid's main square, the building's main facade is made of striking orange brick that overlooks the lake, enhancing its scenic setting. The white side facade doubles as the entrance to the City Library and the administrative offices for the Ohrid Summer Festival, and it leads into a green, park-like area that adds to the building's welcoming atmosphere.

During the summer, the eastern side of the building serves as an outdoor cinema, using its large, plain wall as a screen, showcasing its versatile design. The interior includes two stages-a larger main stage for big events and a smaller stage for additional performances. This layout accommodates a variety of cultural activities, including plays by the well-known Ohrid theatre group, art exhibits, and creative workshops.

More than just a venue, the House of Culture is a hub for cultural growth in the area. It aims to broadly foster cultural life by supporting the creation of cultural works and implementing national cultural policies. It has become a central part of Ohrid's artistic and cultural community, establishing itself as a crucial element of the city's cultural identity and a popular spot for residents and visitors interested in cultural experiences.
