Everard Read stands as Africa's oldest commercial art gallery. It was founded in Johannesburg and marked its centennial anniversary in 2013. Since its inception, Everard Read has been closely associated with leading artists working in Southern Africa.
Throughout the 20th Century, a significant number of South Africa's most significant paintings and sculptures were displayed within the gallery's original location in central Johannesburg.
