Fort Carre, Antibes

Perched atop the Saint-Roch peninsula, Fort Carré stands as a testament to the military prowess and architectural ingenuity of the Renaissance era. Constructed in the 16th century under the directive of Henri II, King of France, this star-shaped fortress was designed by the renowned military engineer Vauban to safeguard Antibes and secure the nearby border with the County of Nice.
