Fundo el Fierro (El Fierro Farm), Arequipa

El Fierro Farm (Fundo El Fierro) is one of the city’s most traditional and atmospheric craft markets. Its origins date back to the 19th century, when it was established as a site for blacksmiths and metalworkers-hence its name, which means “iron farm.” Over time, the workshops gave way to a vibrant cultural marketplace, but the spirit of craftsmanship remains at its core. The market is housed in a series of restored colonial buildings made from the city’s signature white volcanic stone, or sillar. Here, you can find a wide range of products: alpaca and vicuna textiles, ceramics, wood carvings, silver jewelry, and leatherwork.
