General Musik Direktion, Graz
General Musik Direktion was a multi-purpose concert hall and nightlife venue that operated for 18 years before closing as a regular club in 2019. Its flexible interior included a main event area and three bars, supporting rock, jazz, soul and electronic music, as well as festivals, company events and private celebrations.
One of its best-known events was Studio 74, a retro club night launched in 2003 and inspired by New York’s Studio 54. Music from the 1970s and 1980s, period clothing and themed decorations shaped its identity. Five years after the venue closed, Studio 74 returned for a special event at another location in September 2024.
The former premises now operate as Tube’s, a live-music café and club focused on jazz, fusion and world music. Regional and international performers appear on its compact stage, from small ensembles to big bands, creating close contact between musicians and audiences. The venue is described by its operators as barrier-free. Visitors should check the current programme and ticket details before attending.
