Henry Coffin House, Boise

Henry Coffin House, Boise

The Henry Coffin House, built in 1905 is a early example of Colonial Revival architecture by the prominent local firm Tourtellotte & Co. The two-story brick veneer residence is notable for its symmetry, prominent Tuscan-columned porch, and elaborate architectural accents, including stained shingle gables, decorative glass, and a coffered second-story balustrade. Features such as curvilinear brackets, rusticated stone foundations, and crest-like finials speak to the home’s distinctive aesthetic and historic importance.

Henry N. Coffin, the home’s original owner, played a notable role in Idaho’s financial and political history and his residence reflects both his prominence and the architectural ambitions of early 20th-century Boise.
