Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Madre de Deus was built in 1680 in baroque style. It is a local landmark and a stunning structure to see. The church has a beautiful façade with statues and its interior still has its original paintings. The church was designed by Antonio Fernandes de Matos. In 1971 the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Madre de Deus was damaged by a fire, but later it was restored.
