Kids World, Santa Barbara

Kids World is an 8,000-square-foot wooden playground built in 1993, designed for children ages 2 to 12. The structure includes tiles with children’s handprints and was renovated in 2018 to meet current accessibility and safety standards. This updated design incorporates a layout that offers space for climbing, sliding, and exploring across a variety of play zones, including a central castle, tall towers, rope climbs, tire bridges, and elevated wooden walkways.

Prominent elements such as a whale and shark structure add scale and visual interest, while smaller installations like finger and marble mazes encourage quiet, hands-on play. The whale structure also anchors one of two reservable picnic spots-“The Castle” and “Whale”-each accommodating around thirty people for group gatherings. Additional features, including swings, slides, and cubbies for resting or hiding, are spread throughout the playground, enhancing the variety of play experiences. A separate enclosed area is set aside for toddlers, providing a safe and contained space for younger children to explore.
