Laurel Terrace Knoxville, Knoxville

Constructed in 1893, Laurel Terrace Knoxville is a remarkable example of Romanesque Revival architecture that has been exquisitely preserved over the years. Originally built as a residence for candy manufacturer Martin Luther Ross' family, this elegant property is located just two blocks away from the UT campus in the Fort Sanders Historic District.

The house is constructed using a combination of brick and stone, and its most notable feature is the round tower, which is topped with a conical roof and adorned with intricate stonework such as corbels, quoins, and other decorative motifs. Additionally, the entrance to the property boasts a grand arched doorway with elaborate carvings and stonework, complemented by a balcony with wrought iron railings that enhance its overall charm.

The interior of Laurel Terrace Knoxville is equally impressive, featuring a grand staircase with ornate newel posts and balusters. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings, intricate moldings, and original woodwork. The large windows allow for ample natural light, providing picturesque views of the beautifully landscaped award-winning gardens.
