LeMay - America's Car Museum, Tacoma

LeMay - America's Car Museum opened on June 2, 2012 and it showcases a vast collection of cars, many of which were donated by the family of Harold LeMay. Harold LeMay, who ran Harold LeMay Enterprises, a successful refuse company, accumulated the largest private car collection in the world. Following his death, the city of Tacoma provided 10 acres of land for the museum, while the majority of his collection remains at the LeMay Family Collection in Marymount, Spanaway.

The museum spans 1.53 hectares of exhibit space, featuring a 350-car gallery that highlights vehicles known for their speed, technology, design, and cultural significance. The facility also includes gift shops, restoration shops, lecture halls, galleries, a banquet room, and a café. Visitors can enjoy views of Downtown Tacoma, Thea Foss Waterway, Commencement Bay, and the Olympic Mountains from various levels of the museum.

Additionally, there is a 3-acre outdoor courtyard and clubhouse, ideal for car shows, auctions, swap meets, car club events, new car launches, and concours d'Elegance. The museum has also had "Club Auto" satellite locations in Tacoma, Kirkland, Washington, and Lakewood, Colorado. The total cost of the museum is estimated at $100 million.
