Marina Grande, Capri

Marina Grande, Capri

Big Marina was once a quaint fishing village-its harbor flanked by clusters of colorful houses, nets hung to dry, and the gentle rhythms of local life. Today, it remains the island’s only port, serving as the main gateway for visitors arriving from Naples, Sorrento, Ischia, and other destinations in Campania.

Near the docks, you'll find the port authority office, tourist information, ferry and bus ticket counters, and access to the famous funicular that efficiently carries you to The Piazzetta of Capri in just a few minutes.

This harbor area also features Capri’s largest public beach and nearby bathing establishments. Nearby, there’s the historic Church of Saint Costanzo, where the island’s patron saint is honored and whose whitewashed, Arab-influenced façade stands quietly amidst the bustle.

The harbor itself is split: to the west, ferries and hydrofoils for general passengers; to the east, private boats and yachts dock closer to Christopher Columbus Street. Big Marina also serves as the launching point for scenic boat excursions.
