Museo de Trajes Regionales, Bogota

The Regional Costume Museum is located in the house of Manuela Sáenz, who used to be Simon Bolivar's girlfriend and a faithful comrade. The Museum was founded by anthropologist Edith Jiménez de Muñoz. He opened the museum in 1972, and since then he has collected and preserved the national memory, through costumes and fashions that used characters from the national history, from indigenous costumes and past colonial fashion and clothing of other Republicans. It has a vast collection of traditional costumes and garments, coming from all the Colombia regions, covering various historical periods. Each of these represents fashion clothing, different social positions and climates in the country. The collection is enhanced by a complete sample of Colombian fabrics (wool, cloth, jute, rubber, leather).
