Palacio de Salvatierra (Salvatierra Palace), Ronda

The Salvatierra Palace is an 18th-century stately residence built on the site of earlier Mudejar houses granted to Don Vasco Martín de Salvatierra by the Catholic Monarchs after the Reconquest.

Situated in the historic quarter, the palace is notable for its elegant Baroque façade, highlighted by a prominent Renaissance doorway framed by Corinthian columns. Above the entrance, a wrought iron balcony displays the Salvatierra family coat of arms. On either side of the pediment, distinctive sculpted figures inspired by Inca art act as human supports, some with bold expressions and others more reserved.

Its garden at the rear offers sweeping views of the Sierra de las Nieves, while nearby remnants of the city’s medieval walls and Arab baths add to the rich cultural context.

Notably, the palace was the setting for Madonna’s 1994 music video “Take a Bow,” highlighting its atmospheric charm and historical significance.

The Salvatierra Palace is officially recognized as a Monument and Asset of Cultural Interest, reflecting its importance in Ronda’s architectural and artistic heritage.
